Best Suprise of WMC: Jamie Lidell
Just back from WMC in Miami and wow, every year something unexpected is the highlight of the trip. This year it was seeing Jamie Lidell play live at the M3 Sunset Sessions. I was having flashbacks of hearing RJD2 play there live a year ago. Both performances moved me deeply on an emotional level.
Jamie's live shows are a bit different from his studio work. Don't get me wrong, his latest album Multiply is great but when he plays live its a whole different show. He beat-boxes and sings into the mic looping over his voice to build the songs. Its something you have to see to believe. I think my friend Anthony said it best, "That guy makes me ashamed to call myself a musician." A truly gifted soul for sure!
The good news is, if you missed him in Miami, he's playing two shows in NYC in April. I know I'll be at one of them to hear an encore:

Winter Music Conference 2006
So WMC this year should be a blast. People traveling in our group include Mike, Daniel, Lauren, Fanya, Winter, Brooks, Yu Jin, Paola and myself.

I'm still waiting for the WMC people to post The List of events for 2006. That's where we found out about most events last year.
Glossary of Terms
Tramp Stamp – n. Derogatory slang phrase sometimes used to describe a tattoo (especially in the clichéd tribal style) on a woman's lower back.
Whale Tail – n. The appearance of a thong above the waistband.
Muffin Top – n. The bulge of flesh hanging over the top of low-riding jeans.
Flight Information
We're arriving at Miami Airport on Wednesday, 3/22 at 11:44am and departing on Sunday, 3/26 at 5:50pm.

Get Free Music Through iTunes
I just found this over at Mac OS X Hints thanks to slytle and momerath. Apple gives away some free music each month to new iPod owners, and even if you already own an iPod—or never owned an iPod—you can find a link to the free music sampler through this google search. You'll want to use the search result that contains phobos.apple.com in the URL. This link will open the iTunes Music Store to the place where you can get the free tracks. It changes every month or something so check the search again in the future.
